The evidence in the Baha Mousa Inquiry continues over the next two weeks with a series of crucial witnesses due to appear before the Inquiry. They will have much to contribute to our understanding of how Baha Mousa died and how the serious systematic issues that the Inquiry is addressing arose.
Through the week beginning on Monday 10 May a series of key civil servants who gave key policy and legal advice in 2003 will give evidence.
Amongst those giving evidence at the hearing room in Furnival Street in London of particular note are Dr. Simon Cholerton, Nicholas Clapham, Rachel Quick and Vivien Rose. These civil servants will be able to enlighten the public as to how legal and policy decisions were made and on what basis.
In the week beginning on Monday 17 May witnesses from the military including Lieutenant General Sir John Reith who was Chief of Joint Operations from 2001 to 2004 will appear. Also giving evidence will be Lieutenant General Louis Lillywhite who was the Director of the British Forces Health Services in 2003, Major General Graham Binns who commanded 7 Armoured Brigade in early 2003 and his successor Brigadier Adrian Bradshaw.
