Funding Your Case

PIL is a contracted Legal Aid service provider. This means that we may be able to obtain public funding for your case. More information on public funding can be obtained from the Community Legal Service Direct.

PIL is conscious that many groups and individuals it acts for have difficulty raising funds. We are happy to discuss the various options available to groups or individuals who want to instruct us, which may include:

  • Scaling our fees according to your means, or otherwise taking a flexible approach to charging, according to your needs or preferences;
  • Working on a fixed-fee basis, up to an agreed maximum cap;
  • Monitoring costs, updating and discussing with you the funding position regularly;
  • Producing clear, transparent bills, showing how much and what type of work has been done;
  • Being sympathetic to the difficulties and labour involved in fundraising; and
  • Giving free advice on the possibility of obtaining legal aid funding, including eligibility criteria, potential liabilities involved and contribution payments.
